Taxonomy update for 2014

Blue-throated Barbet is widespread in Southeast Asia west to Pakistan and south to northern peninsular Thailand; the highly localized endemic to mountains of central peninsular Thailand Turquoise-throated Barbet is hereby recognized as a distinct species. Turquoise-thorated Barbet has not yet be definitely recorded by eBirders. :

- Blue-throated Barbet (Psilopogon asiaticus)
- Turquoise-throated Barbet (Psilopogon chersonesus)

    Size : 22–23 cm; 61–103 g

             

    Subspecies and Distribution

• Psilopogon asiaticus asiaticus (Latham, 1790)
  – NE Pakistan E along Himalayas to N Myanmar and SC China (W Yunnan),
  S to Bangladesh and C Myanmar.
• Psilopogon asiaticus davisoni (A. O. Hume, 1877)
  – SE Myanmar and SC China (SE Yunnan E to Guangxi) to N & C Vietnam.
