In accord with Collar (2006a), Yellow-throated Laughingthrush subspecies Garrulax
galbanus courtoisi is elevated to species rank, with English name Blue-crowned
Laughingthrush. Subspecies Garrulax galbanus simaoensis also should be transferred
to Garrula courtoisi.

Subspecies and Distribution
- Monotypic (Ménégaux, 1923, Wuyuan, north-eastern Jiangxi, China)– NE Jiangxi (Wuyuan area), in E China. Probably extinct in Yunnan (Simao region), where not recorded since 1956.
